For more than 70 years, we have served our many loyal and valued customers, and we take pride in being their preferred provider of the services we offer.

//1953

BMS (Byggeriets Maskin Stationer A/S) was founded in Copenhagen as a state-owned company using funds from the European Recovery Program, the Marshall Plan. The establishment and initial development of BMS are closely tied to the reconstruction of Denmark's industry after World War II.

According to economic historian Herman van der Wee, the Marshall Plan provided fresh momentum for the rebuilding and modernization of Western Europe. This also applies to the BMS Group, which has been a part of industrial growth over the past seven decades.

 

//1955

BMS receives its first crane, a Danish-built 6-ton telescopic crane.

//1973

The Enggaard family, who later become the owners of BMS A/S, establishes the crane company Kranløft A/S.

//1985

The Enggaard family acquires the crane company Helsingør Kranudlejning from Helsingør and merges it with Kranløft A/S, simultaneously renaming the combined crane company to Kranringen A/S.

//1993

The Danish state privatizes BMS, with the savings banks SDS and Bikuben as the initial owners, after which it is sold to the construction company MT Højgaard A/S.

BMS acquires the crane activities of the companies MT Materielservice and Per Aarsleff.

//2001

BMS acquires the crane and transport company Krangården A/S from Holstebro, which continues to operate as an independent company.

//2004

BMS acquires the Enggaard family's crane company, Kranringen A/S, and as part of the transaction, the Enggaard family takes over 50% of the shares. This results in a shared ownership between MT Højgaard A/S and the Enggaard family, with each party holding 50%. At the same time, Krangården A/S is merged into BMS A/S.

//2007

The Enggaard family acquires MT Højgaard's ownership stake in BMS A/S, gaining 100% ownership.

The Enggaard family also acquires a stake in the Norwegian crane and transport company Kranringen AS, headquartered in Skien.

BMS acquires the crane and transport company TP Kranar AB, headquartered in Malmö, which continues to operate as an independent company.

The BMS Group is ranked as the 43rd largest crane company in the world by the renowned magazine Cranes International and Specialized Transport, based on ton-meter capacity.

//2011

BMS acquires the crane and transport company Kranexpressen A/S from Hedehusene, which continues to operate as an independent company.

The Enggaard family sells their ownership stake in KR Wind to Mammoet and subsequently establishes BMS Heavy Cranes A/S.

BMS sells its unmanned lifts to Riwal Danmark A/S, retaining only the manned truck-mounted lifts in its fleet.

//2012

BMS' subsidiary, Kranexpressen A/S, acquires the crane and transport company P. E. Kristensen A/S from Roskilde, which is subsequently merged into Kranexpressen.

//2014

BMS acquires Kruse Maskintransport A/S, a company specializing in rigging and machinery transport, and merges it into BMS.

//2016

BMS acquires the transport company Torben Rafn A/S from Sommersted, which continues to operate as an independent company.

BMS purchases selected assets from the crane and transport company K. Knudsen A/S and merges these into BMS.

BMS acquires Vamdrup Special Transport A/S, a company specializing in crane, rigging, and transport services, and integrates this business into BMS.

//2018

BMS acquires the crane and transport company Thomas Thomsen A/S from Thisted, which continues to operate as an independent company.

//2021

BMS acquires the crane and transport company Skaks A/S from Rødekro, which continues to operate as an independent company.

BMS purchases the assets of the crane and transport company Karl Thygesen & Søn from Greve and merges them into BMS.

BMS merges the Norwegian crane business Kranringen AS with Crane Norway Group AS and subsequently shares ownership of the consolidated Norwegian crane business with the Stangeland family from Stavanger.

//2022

The BMS Group is ranked as the 5th largest crane company in the world by the renowned magazine Cranes International and Specialized Transport, based on ton-meter capacity.

//2023

BMS and Jalo & Jalo OY, the market leader in truck-mounted lifts in Scandinavia, establish a joint venture, JaloBMS A/S, with the aim of strengthening their combined lift business in Northern Europe. Together, JaloBMS operates more than 100 truck-mounted lifts, primarily in Finland, Sweden, and Denmark, while also undertaking projects in other countries.

//2024

BMS and Crane Norway Group jointly acquire the crane and transport company Havator, which operates in Finland and Sweden. Together, the group now covers the entire Scandinavian region.
