Cranes, transport and skidding for infrastructure projects

BMS has experience with infrastructure projects, supporting customers with the planning and execution of both small and large tasks.

We assist with transport and lifting of bridges that need to be installed over busy roads, such as motorway bridges. These tasks require precise planning to minimise disruption to traffic.

When a bridge cannot be transported and lifted directly due to its size or weight, BMS can provide skidding using hydraulic jacks, skidding tracks and computer-controlled machine skates to move the bridge into position.

For infrastructure projects, BMS can provide solutions with cranes, skidding, transport, storage facilities and project management and engineering, depending on the needs of the project.

Questions and answers about infrastructure

How does BMS support bridge and infrastructure projects?

BMS supports infrastructure projects with planning, transport, lifting and skidding when bridges, elements or rails need to be handled safely and precisely.

When bridges are installed over busy roads, such as motorway bridges, the task often requires precise planning to minimise disruption to traffic. BMS can assist with both transport and lifting, so bridge elements can be installed efficiently.

However, it is not always possible to transport and lift a railway bridge directly into place due to the size and weight of the bridge. In these cases, the new concrete bridge can be cast next to the existing bridge. Once the new bridge has been cast and hardened, the old railway bridge can be removed, and the new bridge can be pushed into place.

For this type of work, BMS provides skidding equipment such as hydraulic jacks, skidding tracks and computer-controlled machine skates, which are used to move and position the bridge.

BMS also has experience with transport and lifting of elements and rails in connection with light rail projects and similar infrastructure work. Steel plates can also be used as stable access roads and crane standing areas on infrastructure projects across Denmark.
