BMS delivers crane and rigging services in Fredericia
High-pressure execution in a high-risk environment
During Crossbridge Energy’s scheduled refinery shutdown in Fredericia, BMS A/S delivered a fully integrated lifting solution under demanding conditions, characterised by 24/7 operations, strict safety protocols, and time-critical coordination.
Our team was selected for our extensive crane fleet, proven ability to manage parallel crane operations, and long-standing experience working in high-risk industrial environments. From February 2024, our engineers supported the planning phase with lift strategies and resource coordination. In September, the shutdown was executed on schedule – with full staffing and high technical reliability.
Technical delivery at scale
The shutdown required the deployment of 13 mobile cranes (90–450 tons), two crawler cranes (130 and 250 tons), and 11 truck-mounted cranes (50–275 tm). Some of the most challenging tasks included lifting work platforms for inspections on a 110-meter stack and precision rigging of heat exchangers weighing up to 20 tons.
To meet the demands of the operation, BMS fielded a comprehensive on-site organisation: two project managers, three supervisors, one HSE advisor, administrative support, and up to 20 riggers. During peak operations, up to 62 personnel worked in shifts to ensure seamless execution and continuous coordination with site management.
This shutdown project highlights BMS' capability to deliver precise and scalable crane solutions under high pressure – with a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and collaboration with a highly professional client organisation.
