The Wind Turbine Industry
The wind turbine industry has a significant impact on our lives and society. Without it, we would not benefit from clean and green energy, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, or combat climate change effectively.
Beyond the "green" advantages, the wind turbine industry also contributes to economic growth by creating numerous jobs in the production, installation, and maintenance of wind turbines, both domestically and internationally.
Additionally, the many wind turbines installed across Denmark contribute to increasing our energy self-sufficiency, reducing our reliance on imports of fossil fuels.
At BMS, we have many years of experience in the wind turbine industry. Our journey began with the acquisition of the crane and transport company Krangården A/S in 2001 and the merger with Kranringen A/S in 2004.
Both companies worked closely with Vestas and Siemens (formerly Bonus Energy) during the 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s.
Today, the wind turbine sector is a significant part of the BMS Group, including our sister company BMS Heavy Cranes A/S, which is a major supplier to the industry. They erect wind turbines worldwide, both onshore and offshore, and also handle wind turbine components at ports around the world for the offshore market.
At BMS A/S, we also provide various services directly to our wind turbine clients both domestically and internationally, including:
- Cranes – Used for installing new wind turbines and servicing existing turbines in Denmark.
- SPMTs (Self-Propelled Modular Transporters) – Used to transport wind turbine components, primarily in port areas for offshore wind turbines, moving them from storage to the quayside where they are loaded onto installation vessels. We also use our SPMTs to transport larger wind turbine components on Danish roads, typically for delivery to wind turbine test centers.
- Truck-Mounted Lifts – Used for the inspection and repair of turbine blades. Our lifts reach up to 90 meters, and for taller turbines, we offer our SQYFlex platforms as an alternative.
- SQYFlex Platforms – Used as working platforms for blade repairs.
