Containers in the air at the Tall Ships Race in Aalborg

When the tall ships dock in Aalborg for the Tall Ships Race, plenty of work goes on behind the scenes too, to help create the big public festival. As a supplier sponsor at the event, BMS provided a truck-mounted crane to hoist a total of ten containers into place at several spots along the harbour, on both the Aalborg and Nørresundby side. On the Monday morning, the crane was back to lift the containers away again as part of the clean-up after the event.

For our driver, Henrik, this kind of lift is far from unfamiliar territory. He often hoists containers for big events.

About the Tall Ships Race

The Tall Ships Race is the world's largest race for tall ships and came to Aalborg for the seventh time in 2026, serving as the event's final port after a leg from Stavanger. From Wednesday the 29th of July to Sunday the 2nd of August, the entire harbour front in Aalborg and Nørresundby was transformed into a large, free public festival with ships from a wide range of nations, music and maritime experiences for the whole family. According to Aalborg Municipality, 780,000 people visited, setting a new attendance record and beating the 2022 edition by more than 100,000 guests.
